Mallorca, the enchanted island, boasts hundreds of amazing places that by their selves can win the most prestigious photography awards. Located at different heights some of these villages are the recreation of the medieval Mediterranean ideal, up to the point that you can inhale tradition and poetry in every breath.

While crossing the Roman bridge in Pollensa, the traveler feels transported to an ancient time when this captivating place was inhabited by Arabs, Phoenicians, Carthaginians, Greeks and Romans. These legendary civilizations weren’t the only ones attracted by Pollensa, also important personalities of the twentieth century, like Agatha Christie and Winston Churchill, hopelessly fell in love in this city. The ascent of Calvary steps clears the mind and the body preparing the traveler for the visual delight from above. In the square Nostra Senyora dels Àngels, an ancient church founded by the Knights Templar, awaits the visit.

In Santa Ponsa even nowadays is possible to imagine Jaime I “The Conqueror” landing with his men to liberate the islands from the occupation of the Moors. At that moment the valiant monarch traveled to rescue a huge stone cross; the event is commemorated every year with a festival known as “Rei En Jaume“. This celebration lasts a week and includes cultural events, medieval markets and a recreation of the battle that took place on this beach in the thirteenth century.

Although Valldemossa is the most famous city of the Sierra de Tramontana, the Port de Sóller is undoubtedly the most beautiful coastal village in the region. The best place to enjoy this breathtaking landscape is the top of Torre Picada, an old watchtower haunted by pirates and privateers. Once in a while the peaceful atmosphere of Sóller is interrupted by a bell announcing the arrival of the Sóller Tram. This former transport line, now turned into a tourist attraction, was created in 1913 to connect Palma de Mallorca with the agricultural cities located inland.

Not far from Sóller, there is the austere village of Deià or Deyá. The houses of this beautiful agricultural and coastal city are cling to the mountain of Teix. The bucolic aspect of Deià has attracted hundreds of artists who have portrayed its Mediterranean beauty.

Caimari embodies the beauty of simplicity. Famous for its olive oil, this small town, located a few minutes from Alcudia, is hidden in a small valley decorated by olive trees and stone houses. In Caimari, time stops and the wind sings cheerfully between the old paths of Mallorca, allowing relax and indulgence.
